Wildlife in the city

“Daddy, I see raccoons,” Atticus says over breakfast today, his third birthday.

The raccoons frequently visit our garage roof and use the ladder leading to our Portland backyard.

Before spying me and the camera flash, they drank from the plant pot trays. The fish pond beneath the ladder tempts them. But the sides are too steep for the raccoons to snag any goldfish. I think.
